The Communication Systems Division of the CTTC is searching for interested candidates in a Researcher Assistant position for its Statistical Inference for Communications and Positioning Department.The Communication Systems Division of the CTTC is searching for interested candidates in a Researcher Assistant position for its Statistical Inference for Communications and Positioning Department.

The candidate must hold a Msc degree in telecommunications, electrical engineering or related disciplines, should have proven implementation and practical experience in the area of navigation and positioning systems, be motivated and team player. The candidate is expected to have a strong background in the following specialization areas of interest: digital signal processing, smart antennas, software-defined receivers and FPGA-based real-time systems. Experience in RF front-end design and related tools is a plus. The candidate must have in-depth knowledge and experience in C++ programming, and be comfortable both in GNU/Linux environments and hardware-related projects.

The applicant is expected to carry out innovative research and effective project management, with emphasis on GNSS technology. The researcher will contribute to the development and maintenance of an experimental platform (testbed) related to the scope of the Department with the aim to validate research on the various aspects of GNSS receivers and related technologies within the framework of H2020 projects.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Applicants must hold a MSc/Engineering degree in in telecommunications, computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields; have experience to perform well in small and medium-sized projects with strong HW/SW development component; be capable of conduct independent research and be highly motivated to work in a collaborative environment; high level of English; good analysis, problem solving and organisational skills. Knowledge of key technologies (GNSS, GNU Radio, hardware drivers, VHDL, digital signal processors, array signal processing, embedded systems, software-defined radio, Matlab/Python/C++) and relevant Open Source projects is also a plus. Research and industrial work experience, management and participation in international and national R&D projects, elaboration of project proposals and experience with startups, is all highly appreciated.

CONDITIONS

The position is full time. Contract may be renew subject to performance and budgetary constraints. The salary will be determined according to the candidate’s qualifications, work experience and skills, and budget availability.
